Sit quietly with horses and they will show you their hearts. Sit with them kindly and they will help you locate yours!
The Objectives of Equine Assisted Therapy
Equine Assisted Therapy has had great successes using the horses movements to improve sensory and motor input. The main goal has been to improve neurological function and sensory processing with those that have neurological or other disorders, such as autism, cerebral palsy, arthritis, head injury, stroke, and behavioral disorders.
We Also Integrate Horses to build trust and develop intuition
We have also integrated trust building exercises, horses will give trust as you give trust. A client builds that trust by feeding, brushing, and taking care of the animal. Horses instinctively assess your level of threat because of predators in the wild. Though these are tame animals, they still will evaluate and display behaviors based on their intuitions. It's not directly intuition. A horse can hear your heart beat and an elevated heart rate may be the signal. That is why trust is such an important theme for both client and horse.
We can learn spirituality in this same manner. Our spirit is our conscience, our fellowship, and our intuition. We learn to trust the horse's intuition and begin to trust our own senses. The horse will deepen your awareness of your conscience by being so attuned to the changes in your rhythm. Their behaviors will reflect these subtle alerts. As we become attuned to the horse's behaviors we can assess our own rhythms.
